ANI reports that a variety of world leaders and global organizations visited various locations on Saturday in memory of his nonviolence message. The occasion is celebrated in India and around the world with several events.

As part of a two-year anniversary line up of Gandhian ideologies, the 149th birthday of Gandhi has been commemorated by Burj Khalifa since his 149th birth anniversary in 2018.

Gandhi was born on October 2, 1869, in the Gujarati town of Porbandar. He was at the forefront of the freedom movement against colonial rule and adopted a non-violent method of protest. In 1947, India became independent. As a result, he has been referred to as Bapu throughout the world for his unwavering belief in ‘Swaraj’ (self-government) and ‘Ahinsa’ (nonviolence).

At the Indian Consulate in Dubai, India’s Commerce and Industry Minister Piyush Goyal honoured Mahatma Gandhi earlier Saturday. “We must acknowledge Mahatma Gandhi for his spiritual, philosophical, and emotional connections with both the people of India and the world,” Goyal said during his remarks on the occasion.

In addition to showcasing trendy handloom designs popularized by Gandhi during India’s freedom struggle at Expo 2020 Dubai, the pavilion also hosted a sustainable textile show.

In addition to the celebrations, musicians from 124 countries sang tributes to Gandhi.
