Saudi Arabia introduces new visa scheme for residents of the Gulf Cooperation Council

Visiting tourists are not subject to any specific restrictions, according to the country’s tourism minister

Saudi Arabia’s Minister of Tourism Ahmed Al Khateeb says a new visa regime will be introduced soon for residents of the GCC. According to him, the country’s new tourist visa program launched on January 1, 2019, is still in place. According to him, tourists don’t face any restrictions as of yet.

Further elaborating, he stated: “In 2019, the sector contributed 3 percent to creating jobs, and by 2030, we expect to reach 10 percent.” According to him, the tourism sector infected by Covid-19 shrank by 40%. “We aim to spend more than $200 billion between now and 2030,” he said. “The job market grew by 15 percent to 820,000 jobs between 2019 and now.”
