The UAE launches a new insurance claim website for flood-damaged vehicles

Just a week after unprecedented flooding hit Fujairah, the Ministry of Interior has launched a website for car owners to report damage to their vehicles. This report will be helpful to those whose cars have been totaled or wrecked in the record-breaking rain.

Both English and Arabic versions of the website require car owners to upload a photo of their damaged cars and registration cards. The service costs Dh20. Registration numbers are issued to users once they have submitted their details.

“It could take 2-3 working days for an incident report to be issued, according to other residents and experts.

Siraj, who works in the insurance industry, explained that once the car owner has the report, they can approach their insurance company to proceed with the repairs.

It is usually the insurance company that sends a recovery vehicle to transport the car to a garage where mechanics determine whether it can be repaired or deemed a total loss.

Fujairah, Sharjah and Ras Al Khaimah all suffered flooding last week as a result of the highest rainfall in 27 years. Seven people died, including five Pakistanis, and many others were displaced.
