Expo 2020 Dubai to have 15 EV green chargers installed by Dewa

Additionally, two green charge stations are being installed at the Expo office, which will let 30 electric vehicles be charged simultaneously. At Expo 2020 Dubai’s pavilions, Opportunity; Sustainability; and Mobility, the Dubai Electricity and Water Authority (Dewa) has installed 15 electric vehicle (EV) chargers.

Visitors to the Expo will be able to charge their electric vehicles at the Green Chargers. Five Green Chargers have been installed at each pavilion, enough to charge 30 electric vehicles at the same time, and two more are being constructed at the Expo office. According to Saeed Mohammed Al Tayer, managing director and chief executive of Dewa, the installation of 17 Green Charger stations at Expo 2020 Dubai is part of Dewa’s effort to support the vision of the wise leadership to host the best edition of the Expo.

Furthermore, the Smart Dubai initiative, launched by Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice-President and Prime Minister of the United Arab Emirates and Ruler of Dubai, aims to make Dubai the world’s smartest and happiest city. Dewa, the Official Sustainable Energy Partner of Expo 2020 Dubai, has allocated Dh4.26 billion to support infrastructure projects for electricity and water networks at the exhibit.

The Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum Solar Park will also supply clean energy for Expo 2020 Dubai, making it the largest single-site solar park in the world,” said Al Tayer. Across Dubai, Dewa has installed more than 300 Green Chargers. Until December 31, 2021, non-commercial EV owners registered in the Green Charger service can charge for free at public charging stations.
