Dubai launches a special Expo 2020 passport

The Expo 2020 Dubai passport will allow visitors to explore over 200 participating pavilions around the world. Purchase of the passport will cost you Dh20. Approximately 20 days from now, the mega event will begin its run of six months.

During the 182-day event, visitors can use the passport to visit as many pavilions as possible. In looking back on their experiences, they will be able to relive memories. At the 1967 World Expo in Montreal, the special passport was first introduced. Visitors have been collecting stamps from each pavilion since then, making it one of the most popular Expo souvenirs.

In keeping with UAE heritage, the Expo 2020 version (of the passport) links the past with the present. Each 50-page booklet features designs and pictures of the three Thematic Pavilions (Mission Possible – The Opportunity Pavilion, Alif – The Mobility Pavilion and Terra – The Sustainability Pavilion), …Pavilion and Terra – The Sustainability Pavilion), plus other landmarks in Dubai, including Dubai’s iconic skyline, and other elements of the UAE,” the Expo team announced on Thursday.

It also includes enhanced security features including an individual number, a section for a passport-sized photo, and hidden watermarked images on every page, ensuring that every piece of paper is unique. UAE’s Year of the 50th has led to a new passport commemorating the nation’s founding father, late President Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan. It includes a gold-foiled special page and a photo from 1971, when the UAE celebrated the birth of the nation.
