A high vaccination rate for Covid impacted the ease of mask rules

UAE has eased mask rules in public places in the latest sign that the country is recovering from the pandemic quickly.

Despite the deadly Covid-19 pandemic, the country has been able to keep its head above water, and life is slowly returning to normal. It is credited to the UAE’s visionary leadership, who laid down the effective initiatives, recovery plans, and mass vaccination drives that proved vital in restoring normalcy.

The Ministry of Health and Prevention (MoHAP) and the National Emergency Crisis and Disasters Management Authority (NCEMA) announced Wednesday that it is not mandatory for people to wear masks while staying within a safe physical distance of two metres in certain places.

They stated that this decision followed a “noticeable decrease” in Covid-19 cases in the country. In addition to exercising in public places and using private vehicles for commuting, face masks will no longer be mandatory at open beaches, beauty salons, and swimming pools.

Burjeel Hospital, Dubai’s chief medical officer, Dr Nayzak Raoof, called the move a significant one, saying:”This announcement has come at the right time, giving an overall positive feeling to everyone involved.”

The UAE authorities have shown their confidence by easing mask rules after 18 months of using face masks. The Emirates have tackled the pandemic and contained the virus to a great extent. We can be encouraged by the fact that the number of cases has dipped to all-time lows. If this is true, we can expect to resume our normal lives as we did before the pandemic.”
